Whitby Goth Weekend (WGW) is a bi-annual event that was founded by Jo Hampshire in 1994. Taking place in the north Yorkshire coastal town of Whitby, WGW has been attracting thousands of traditional goths, emos, cybergoths, industrial and EBM fans, corporate goths, as well as admirers of such folk and people who want a great weekend away, ever since. Whitby is the perfect setting for this lively and busy event. The town was the original inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula, and the drive across the Yorkshire Moors to get to Whitby is as breath-taking as the costumes you find walking around the town during WGW.

There's a music event at The Spa Pavilion, with bands playing on the Friday and Saturday night; 4 venues dedicated to shopping for all your goth clothing, accessories, footwear and artwork; and a host of clubs, meet ups and other socialising opportunities. The whole town is awash with goths of all kinds during Whitby goth weekend, so just hanging out on the quayside on a Friday evening is a visual delight.

Alternative clothing by Jed Phoenix of London (JPOL) has been adorning many a Whitby Goth Weekend go-er for several years. It wasn't until October 2008, with much encouragement from both customers and fellow traders, that JPOL took the plunge and booked a space in the Leisure Centre shopping venue. We were so blown away by the atmostphere, the sartorial style, the busy-ness and the friendliness of Whitby Goth Weekend that we've had a pop up shop there twice a year ever since.
Jed Phoenix of London will have a pop up shop in the main room of the Leisure Centre, West Cliff, Whitby, YO21 3HT at Whitby Goth Weekend Friday 27th, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th April 2012 between 10am and 5pm.
