"Mr and Mrs Gary Numan visit the Jed Phoenix of London stall in Camden Town, London, early 2000s"
In the early noughties, Jed Phoenix of London had a stall in the Electric Ballroom, Camden Town, London. Amongst the many visitors to the stall was Gemma Webb, Gary Numan's wife, who said to Jed one Sunday "I need another pair of strap trousers for Gary". They were black cotton with a black fleece lining, and he wears them in the Crazier video.
A few weeks later Gary Numan came down to Camden Town with Gemma and ordered a strap tailcoat to go with the trousers. A couple of tweaks to the design were made for Mr. Numan - two piece front panels with extra straps going across the front waist area, and a covered centre front zip.
Other items from the Jed Phoenix of London range that Gary Numan bought include a specially made seven strap leather waist cincher belt with metal side release buckles at the front, which can be seen here in this fan-edited video for "I Can't Breathe"
and a City Punk jacket, as worn on-stage whilst performing "Desire".
