Witchfest

Witchfest International is the world's largest festival for Pagans, Witches and Wiccans

Witches often have a rather bad press, often aligned with evil and scorcery. Wicca is, however, a Neo-Pagan earth based religion that, in short, sees Nature as divine. Mother Nature is central to Wiccans and there are various rituals throughout the year that are based on the phases of the Moon. Witchcraft is seen as the practical application of Wiccan beliefs and the religion was forced underground by the rise of Christianity. There have been many witch-hunts over the centuries, in places such as the UK, USA and various African countries. Some people suggest that Wiccan is a New Age religion. This denies the fact that Wicca not only pre-dates New Age, but also has a different general philosophy. Professor Ronald Hutton is an acedemic who specialises in Witchcraft and Wicca and will be one of the many speakers at Witchfest International.

A wealth of entertainment at Witchfest International

Witchfest International is held annually at The Fairfield Halls in Croydon, south London. Tickets for the day include various experts on subjects such as Wicca and Witchcraft History, psychic development, hauntings and divination. There is a vast array of stalls at Witchfest selling all manner of artefacts,literature and clothing appealing to the modern day witch. Aural delights at Witchfest International feature Inkubbus Sukkubus, a band dubbed as 'Britain's Premier Pagan Rock Band', and who will be performing at Witchfest International having just got back from their Mexican Day of The Dead tour in a year. 2009 is the year Inkubbus Sukkubus celebrate their 20th anniversary, so if you haven't already seen them, Witchfest International is a great place to do so. The Dolmen and Witchfest regulars Kitty Hudson will also be playing.
