"WGW - a mecca for goths of all ages"
The Whitby Goth Weekend is somewhat of an institution among those of a 'darker nature'. The festival has been running since 1994 and is held in this small north Yorkshire town partly because of Whitby's links to Bram Stoker's Dracula. In 1997, the Whitby Goth Weekend became so popular that it became a twice yearly event (April and Halloween). Goths of all types - trad goths, horror goths, corporate goths, emo goths - take over the town to enjoy socialising, live bands, DJs and other forms of entertainment. Jed Phoenix of London's clothes have been worn by various WGW festival goers for many years and in October 2008, Jed joined them by taking a stall in the smaller room in the Leisure Centre (In April 09, Jed Phoenix of London secured a pitch in the main room of the Leisure Centre, and is now firmly established as a regular trader at Whitby Goth Weekend).
"Shopping opportunities at Whitby Goth Weekend"
In April 2009, traders from the Leisure Centre got together with Hellequin Creative to produce the WGW Almanack. This fantastic free A5 sized full colour guide details some of the delights Whitby Goth Weekend has to offer, along with a map of the alternative and goth clothing market venues.
Whitby Goth Weekend truly is the place to go for all your alternative and gothic clothing and lifestyle needs. There are numerous traders selling a range of products, from traditional corsets to steam punk accessories, from comics and artwork to gothic figurines, and, of course, the Jed Phoenix of London range of pinstripe, military style and kinky fashion.
