Manchester's Club Lash - a popular and long-running club for polite perverts
Back in 1997 the fabulous Rosie Lugosi and three other fetish gals got tired of having nowhere to go. They couldn't believe that there was nothing for them in Manchester. They wanted something extra, something theatrical: sleaze-free and somewhere women would want to go. Their experiences of fetish clubs up to that point was a 75% male clientele and getting pestered by dodgy blokes. The result was that they set up Club Lash, a monthly club that has been running for over a decade and is, held at The Tunnel, Legends, 6 Whitworth Street, Manchester M1 3QW on the second Saturday of every month.
Club Lash - run by lasses with lashes
This female management is one of the secrets of the success of Club Lash. Women automatically feel safer at an event that’s run by women. And if women feel safe, then it follows that everyone else does too. Rosie and her friends started in a tiny club in Manchester city centre – they were packed out on the first night and it’s been the same ever since. Club Lash has had a number of different venues, but are now happily at THE TUNNEL, a well-known venue on the edge of Manchester’s famed Gay Village. It’s an atmospheric, with vaulted brick ceilings and underground nooks and crannies… very conducive to devilment. And it has the friendliest bar staff in town.
Feel safe and welcome and dress to impress
Club Lash prides itself on being welcoming - very important as there are always have ‘first-timers’ at the event, as well as folk who have been coming to Club Lash for many years.There is a separate room for the playspace, (provided by the marvellous Roissy Workshops) so that people who feel nervous about the more ‘physical’ (!) side of the night aren’t overwhelmed by it. And of course, no-one is made to do anything they don’t want! One major rule at Club Lash is ‘Don’t touch unless invited’. How many other clubs can a woman go to in a tight corset and not get groped by a pissed up bloke?
