Why is Jed Phoenix of London an alternative clothing brand for the strikingly unconventional?
The garments we produce here in our south London studio are made by a small team of alternative, independent and slightly off-the-wall tattooed women. Our ways of working are a little different from the mainstream. The main designer, Jed Phoenix, is a mainly self-taught designer, pattern cutter and maker, who started the business in 1999 with a loan from The Prince's Trust. Elaine, our chief machinist, has been sewing for over 20 years, and also works for Velda Lauder Corsetiere.
Our aim here at Jed Phoenix of London is to produce well-made, well engineered clothes that combine functionality, versatility and style. We often find that people who buy JPOL's rather identifiable alternative clothing brand are a little unconventional too. They tell us that they like the fact that they get to meet the designer, that this isn't a faceless, anonymous producer of things to wear. We like to interact with our customers as much as possible. So if you haven't already done so, we encourage you to join our Facebook page, or follow Jed Phoenix of London on Pinterest or Jed Phoenix on Twitter.
